Welcome Aboard

The Mudslides is a completely restored and beautiful 1986 Chris Craft Commander 360.  It’s 36 feet long plus a custom-made swim-platform.  The original engines have been replaced by smooth running and reliable Yanmar Diesels.  The interior has been refit to make it comfortable and stylish including fine mahogany and granite counter tops.  New air-conditioning, refrigeration, electrical and plumbing systems and fine furniture make for a relaxing and comfortable trip, whether you’re fishing out in the Aqua-Traction floored cockpit or relaxing inside on a long trip to a special destination.  Of course, our signature Mudslides are always available and made by our Captain with his special recipe.  When we’re docked, he’ll even join you in enjoying one.

Nothing has been spared for your comfort or safety.  The Mudslides goes above and beyond what is required by the USCG and has a 6-person offshore life raft and EPIRB as well as all other required safety equipment.  If your journey calls for anchoring out and getting to land, then the Mudslides also includes her dingy “Floater” to get you to shore or a secluded area for clamming or tanning on a beach.

The name Mudslides comes from the drink, of course, and a much more affordable option than the ones that everyone gets on Block Island.  Steve started making these years ago with a father’s day gift from his wife, Mrs. Capt. Steve, or Mrs. Slides.  Steve developed his own special recipe and has perfected it over the years making thousands of these for yacht club parties, people cruising by out in the Thimble Islands, and anyone that’s helped him dock at tons of marinas all around.  The name just seemed to go along with the boat and it does put a smile on everyone’s face when she pulls in.

Our Destinations

The Mudslides is a regular visitor to such areas in NY as Port Jefferson, Mattituck, Fisher’s Island, Greenport, Sag Harbor, Riverhead, Shelter Island, Coecles Harbor, Montauk and New York City.  In RI, we frequent Block Island, Watch Hill, Point Judith, Newport, and other areas inside of Narragansett Bay.  Of course, our home port is Branford, CT and the Thimble Islands, but we travel all along the Connecticut shoreline too, including Greenwich, Bridgeport, Milford, New Haven, Guilford, Madison, Clinton, Westbrook, Old Saybrook, the Connecticut River, New London, Mystic, the Thames River, Niantic, Stonington, and the Pawcatuck River.

If you don’t see your desired destination here, please don’t worry, if there’s enough water, we’ll get you there.  The Captain is always up for a new adventure and can get you safely to any location on the Eastern Seaboard.  When you’re on the Mudslides, you set the destination, let the Captain get you there.

Captain Steve

Steve is committed to getting you to where you want to go or catch what you want to catch and after his top priority of your safety, he’ll do whatever he can to make the best of your charter experience.  He’s been a licensed captain since 2022 and has been on the water in all kinds of boats over the last 40 years.  What he enjoys most is seeing you have a great time on his boat.  He makes a pretty good Mudslide too.
